Six Flags Over Georgia

Skull Island

Skull Island is an anomaly at Six Flags Over Georgia.  It’s essentially a self-contained water park in a park that very consciously chooses to not have a water park (there is a separately ticketed waterpark that’s also operated by Six Flags nearby).

There’s a few water slides and some water effects here (the most prominent being the oversized bucket that fills with water and dumps on guests every five or so minutes), but ultimately I just don’t get the point of Skull Island.  Is it intended as a children’s play area (the bucket instantly makes me think of Curious George Goes to Town at Universal Studios Florida)?  Is it intended to be a water park alternative (that same bucket contraption was spotted in a water park area of Wyandot Lake)?  Is it just supposed to be a place where guests suffering the beatdown of a humid Georgia day can go and cool off?

I just don't know.  But I'll tell you one important thing...If you plan on enjoying Skull Island, please refrain from walking around the rest of the park wearing only your swimsuit.  Unless you’re hot.  Like really hot.  Y’know what, on second thought, just don’t do it.
