Six Flags Over Georgia

Ninja

OPENED: March 1992
MANUFACTURER: Vekoma
HEIGHT: 122 feet
TOP SPEED: 52 mph

INVERSIONS: 5 (butterfly, reverse sidewinder, double corkscrew)
HEIGHT REQUIREMENTS: 48 inches

This coaster was transplanted from a place called Conko’s Party Pier in New Jersey.  With a name like Conko’s, you know it had to be good, right?  Okay, Conko’s was actually owned by a division of Conklin Shows (this isn’t making it better, is it?).  In its current location, Ninja is a very pretty coaster.  It’s positioned over a smallish reflecting lake and was recently given a fresh coat of paint.  The design, however, leaves something to be desired, as this is a very compact layout.

Very few coasters cause me to shout pained obscenities.  Ninja is a part of this elite club.   Maybe it’s my fault.  Maybe I wasn’t really ready for that butterfly element and I smacked my jaw pretty solidly into the over the shoulder restraint.   That’s really my fault, isn’t it?  I wasn’t paying attention to the layout of the coaster and I paid the price.  Should you ride it (and the generally short lines make it irresistible),  just pay attention to where the train is headed.  Some of the direction shifts are very fast (and potentially very painful).
