Riverview Carousel
Okay, let's get this out of the way right now. You really don't get much of a view of a river while riding this carousel. The name isn't intended as a bait and switch trick, however. The carousel gets its name from its original home, Riverview Park (which operated for over 50 years in Chicago, IL. Now they've got a great river up there). After that park closed in 1967, this Philadelphia Toboggan Company attraction was moved to Six Flags Over Georgia. The Riverview Carousel has earned a spot on the National Register of Historic Places. Originally constructed in 1908, this is one of only three 5-across carousels known to still exist. So if you happen to have a 5-across carousel collecting dust in your (rather oversized) garage, there's some nice gentlemen from the Department of the Interior who'd like to have a word with you.
