Ricochet
Opened: March 2002 Ricochet opened as the Blue Ridge Junction section of the park was rethemed as the Carolina Boardwalk. It's a perfect fit, as wild mouse coasters are extremely common in the beachside pier type parks that the area is trying to recreate. The ride itself is relatively straightforward. Like most wild mouse coasters, the thrills come from sharp hairpin turns that create the illusion that the car is going to veer right off the tracks. In all, there's a total of six 180 degree turns and eleven 90 degree turns. Combined with the many short drops that are a staple of a wild mouse, and you've got a solid addition to the Carowinds' lineup. Be warned, however, that with only eight cars on the track
lines can get a little longish. If the line seems long, try riding the
nearby Caroline Cyclone first. Maybe the line will have died down a bit by
the time you get back.
