Carowinds Phantom Flyers
A classic attraction (though recently added to Carowinds, this ride was originally built for Coney Island Amusement Park (Cincinnati, OH) over 70 years ago. When King's Island opened, this was one of the rides that was moved there. After 30 plus years at King's Island, the ride was once again relocated, making Carowinds its newest home. From what I hear, they're still pretty ticked off about it up at King's Island. So, for a 70 year old attraction, this thing looks pretty solid. It’s amazing what a new paint job and good preventative maintenance can do, ain’t it? Each car has a sail on the front, enabling the passenger(s) to control which direction the vehicle moves as well as what height the vehicle goes to. Advances riders have perfected the art of "snapping," where they radically change the ride's position causing it to erratically lose altitude at a very fast pace. A lot of parks get really ticked off when people do this, though at this point Carowinds hasn't said anything to anyone. This ride is themed to the Nickelodeon
cartoon character Danny Phantom, a kid super hero who has the ability to “Go
Ghost” to fight evil Back to Carowinds Park Directory Back to ThemeParkSushi's Main Page |
