The Hurler OPENED: June 1994 This wooden twister type coaster provides the backbone of the Thrill Zone area. When it originally opened, The Hurler was part of an overall "Wayne's World" theme that preceded the renaming of this area. And it was a pretty nice wooden coaster back then. But it wasn't anything that was going to turn any heads, and it apparently didn't do much for the ride manufacturer - International Coasters Inc. is responsible for exactly two rollercoasters: the Hurler at Carowinds and the Hurler at King's Dominion. Generally not a good sign. In the years that followed, the entire Wayne's World theme was removed from this area. Hurler retained its name (as did the nearby Scream Weaver), but that was all that was left. And then came the neglect. Hurler is desperately in need of some severe TLC. This could be a good coaster, but until someone signs off on getting it retracked, it's going to be a severe rattler for a while.
