Action F/X Theatre (Spongebob 3D)
The Action F/X Theatre began life simply as "Days of Thunder" when it opened in 1993. The motion simulator recreated the sensation of being at the wheel of a racecar, pit stops and all. After many years, folks were getting a bit bored with that film so newer films were brought in to keep interest up (at this point, the name changed to the Paramount Action F/X Theatre). These films have included a James Bond movie, a comic-based creation called "7th Portal," and other variations. In 2003, the theatre opened Spongebob 3D and has kept that film since (although Days of Thunder did make a return visit in 2004). Guests are seated on one of 37 motion based chairs (each chair holds two people). During the course of the film, the chair moves to mimic the onscreen action. Stationary seats are available for folks prone to motion sickness. The storyline of Spongebob 3D revolves around the creation of a perfect Krabby patty. The required pickle slips away, is inadvertantly caught by a pogo-sticking Patrick, and the chase begins. To tell more than this would be A. spoiling and B. the biggest waste of time possible. It's a Spongebob Squarepants cartoon, people. It's ain't Dostoevsky. Now, a motion simulator based on Dostoevsky? That'd
be crazy. Back to Carowinds Park Directory Back to ThemeParkSushi's Main Page |
