TPS Report

Freestyle Music Park
(formerly Hard Rock Park)

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

The exit shop formerly known as Cloud 9 Provisions
hasn't got any signage up yet, but the map indicates
it's going to be named "Buying Time."

The soundtrack (originally Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love") alternates with each ride
to a montage of songs from the particular decade you're saddled with.  It is believed
that you will be able to select your decade, but they were only doing one train
operation on Saturday and I wasn't that curious.

The train has a nice new paint job.

I have to admit, it was a sad six months not knowing if we were
going to get this thing operational again.  A closed B&M makes me a sad panda.

One thing I did note - the music is much quieter than it was last year.

Just past Time Machine we came across a sad loss.  Karen really liked
the Japanesey lion thing, but it is no longer with us.  It's probably in one
of the former managers' back yards, assuming it was paid for in the first place.

Yowza, that's quite a bright new color scheme.
The Kitchen Below has now been replaced by Paradise Pizza.

Considering Kitchen Below quit selling the delicious Jamaican meat
patties, the place was dead to me anyways.

Hey, we found a mention of Hard Rock Park!
Unfortunately, the swans and their kids were nowhere to be seen.

UPDATE - we checked back the following Saturday, and the sign is gone.

Crossing the bridge into Across the Pond (formerly British Invasion).

Strawberry Fields and Cream replaces Cod Piece Fish -n- Chips.

Pitmedden Bar replaces the Queens Head Pub (and it got chairs!  Very nice!)

Faerie Glen replaces the Magic Mushroom Garden.
We didn't get a shot of the ride, but the mushrooms have been removed.

This used to be the walkway to Phonehenge, but now it's
a nice little quiet area where OH MY GOD THE STATUE IS ALIVE!

Apparently the previous owners were unable to secure the
intellectual property rights to the Abbey Road album cover.

Whirlygig is the new name for the children's play area everyone ignored anyway.

The tour bus got a bit more labeling on it.  I'm not sure what they
plan to do with it at this point (personally, I'd use it to shuttle
guests from Ocean Blvd to the park.  Anything that gets 'em in)
