TPS Report
Freestyle Music Park
(formerly Hard Rock Park)
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
Well, here we go again...

We were fans of Hard Rock Park (if you don't believe me,
here's the original TPS
Report).
The park had some problems, but that didn't prevent us from enjoying
ourselves 7 of the 8 times we attended.
(yes, 1 of the 8 visits did suck out loud, but let's not go there)

Don't be mislead by the empty parking lot behind me.
There's plenty
of parking lot with cars in it in front of me. I would go so far to
suggest
that this is the busiest we've seen the park since July 4th of 2008.

Karen's wearing her Holiday World cap to conceal the
fact that we're both still beat the hell down from our week in Florida.

As we approach the park, everything looks normal.

With the obvious name exceptions, the entrance plaza looks
pretty normal...

Well, at least that should make Belson happy.
(especially since Hard Rock closed a few weeks before his planned visitation
last year)

Waiting in line to get out HRP annual passes processed to FMP
annual passes.
I'm sending Tommy a text to see where he is (we only arrived, oh, three hours
late)
The one time we set our clocks to gay time, Tommy sets his clock to straight
time. Figures.

Unlike some other websites, we actually pay to get into
parks.
Tale of two gates. I'm not used to the FMP logo yet.
Okay, I don't want this whole thing to sound like a
Miceage article, but I thought
it'd be interesting to take a closer look at some of the more blatant changes
that
the park has undergone with the new ownership. First thing we noticed
was the cool Bali wood carving that was mounted next to the All Access
Merchandise
store had been removed.
While we're at it, All Access Merchandise is now the
Freestyle Mercantile.

They haven't got a huge amount of branded merchandise on sale
yet, so they
had to settle for a lot of band tee shirts and stuff like that. Karen was
glad to
see they were going with some environmentally friendly companies.
I Want Candy is being changed to Red Red Wine.
It's still a great shop to get something for the kids.
Amp'd Coffee is now Rockaccino.
Someone else will have to bite the bullet and see if the quality is better.
I drank liquid nasty from Amp'd twice last year, and I'm not taking any chances.
Oh, and obviously the ZZ Top car tubby-bye-bye.
I wasn't surprised to see the mural in the archway gone.
The Nirvana quote on the arch has also been removed.
Looking back down the entrance plaza, the differences are
mostly superficial.
Oh, almost forgot. The "All Access Entry Plaza" is now the "VIP Plaza."
