Sandusky

Okay, we're in Sandusky now.  It's not the most jumping town in the state,
but it's really rather pleasant.

I hate seeing old closed theatres.  This one looked really cool looking.

In Washington Park, you'll find the Boy and the Boot fountain.
This is one of at least 10 such statues found in the US (internationally, there's
at least 25).  No one seems to know where these things started out. Their
point of origin is lost somewhere in the 19th century...

This is the Merry-Go-Round Museum.  While it sounds really interesting,
I've got to be honest.  I was really getting sick of merry-go-rounds.

This was a really lovely view.  Too bad our POS camera
didn't feel like sharing it with everyone else...

Interesting thing about Sandusky.  The layout of the downtown area was designed by a fellow
named Hector Kilbourne.  He was the first Worshipful Master of the Sandusky Masonic Lodge.
Inside the layout of the city, you'll find what's called the Kilbourne Plat.  Essentially, it's a spot
where the streets perfectly align to form the symbol of the Freemasons.

What's it all add up to?  I don't know.

Over on the Cedar Point peninsula, we checked into Hotel Breakers. It's pricy, but
we had a coupon.  No really.  If you're planning a trip to Cedar Point, make sure you
get on their mailing list.  They send you a planning guide that has a bunch of useful coupons.
We ended up saving like $30 on the room.

Our room was in the rotunda section, just off from the main lobby.  Most of the
rest of the hotel is much newer.  This section actually dates back to when the
hotel was initially built in the early 20th Century.

We were only on the third floor, which was nice when you realize that the rotunda
section of the hotel hasn't got an elevator.

The view from our window.

Here's the hotel from the beach.

And here's a pic just to show you how close the park is to the beach.

Okay, enough pics for today.  Next week, Cedar Point!
