Six Flags Over Georgia

Monster Plantation

Ladies and gentlemen, Six Flags Over Georgia has got themselves a dark ride.  Not only that, but they've had it (or previous incarnations of it) since the day they opened their gates.

In Monster Plantation, guests board boats that take them into a flooded mansion.  Inside, the (friendly) monsters are having a celebration, and humans are allowed today.  You pass a variety of (admittedly lowkey) animatronic characters, including the friendly sheriff who warns you to keep out of the marsh.

If you've ever been on any dark ride, it's not much of a spoiler to point out that pretty soon your boat is going to wind up heading into the marsh.

Inside the marsh you encounter several of the nastier monsters, and they're all pleased as punch to see some fresh meat.  They groan and moan as you pass along, only to soon encounter that friendly sheriff character again, whose quick to point out that he told you not to go in there.

It's all pretty fun, but this is a textbook example of an attraction that desperately could use a makeover.  Each season it seems like some work is done, but for everything they correct there's still something else that needs to be fixed.
The audio is especially problematic, as portions of what's going on are very
unclear.

Even with these complaints, Monster Plantation is a great effort and
well worth the time.  But be aware that this isn't a Disney dark ride.
