Six Flags Over Georgia Eats Like most amusement parks, Six Flags Over Georgia doesn't get terribly adventurous when it comes to their culinary selection. Nearly all the restaurants contain the standard assortment of burgers, chicken fingers, pizza and the like. New alliances between the park and chain eateries like Papa John's Pizza and Cold Stone Creamery have led to a more straight-lined consistency in quality, but at the same time has made too many options redundant. Ben and Jerry's (located in the French section of the park) Do we really need to explain this one? Many of the more popular Ben and Jerry's flavors are represented, handscooped into whatever you want (cup, shake, waffle cone, etc.). There's extremely limited seating indoors if you want to enjoy your cone with a little AC. Carrot Club (located in Bugs Bunny World/Spanish section) This restaurant features Papa John's pizza and chicken tenders. Indoor seating, with a few tables outside. Cold Stone Creamery (located in the Cotton States area) The newest thing in ice cream seems to be getting a show with your cone. At Cold Stone, they mix whatever you want with your ice cream, combining the ingredients in front of you. Personally, I don't much care for this hibachi style delivery method. If I'm in a park, I'm going for soft serve. Cotton States Food Court (located (duh) in the Cotton States area) Calling this a food court may be a little bit of a stretch. What we have here is three food stalls - one serving footlong chili dogs and chicken tenders, one serves ICEE drinks, and one sells Dippin' Dots (see below). There's scarce seating in this area, so don't get anything you're not willing to eat on your feet. Country Cousins (located in the Lickskillet area) This is a small stand that sells lemonade (so-so), cotton candy and snow cones. Daddy O's (located in the USA section) is a barbecue restaurant specializing in ribs, chicken, and pulled pork. There's a small indoor seating area, with many outdoor tables between here and DeeJay's Diner. DeeJay's Diner (located in the USA section) Pretty straightforward selection of burgers, chicken sandwiches and fried. Indoor seating is available, but please note that when we've been here the waittime has been quite lenghty,
Dippin' Dots (various locations around the park) The Ice Cream of the Future? It's been 20 years since Dippin' Dots burst onto the market, and I haven't noticed traditional ice cream places quaking in their boots (actually, the future of ice cream seems to be places like Cold Stone Creamery and Marble Slab). Some folks love this stuff, others don't get it. I don't get it. Again, I'm a soft serve guy. Funnel Cakes (located in the Lickskillet area of the park) One of the favorite treat of fairgoers lives on here. Why can't it be elephant ears? Gotham City Eatery (located in Gotham City. Duh or no duh?) This location sells pulled BBQ and chicken wings. There's not a lot of available seating in the immediate area, so it's not a great location. Finding covered seating is nearly impossible. Hickory Chip (located in the Lickskillet area) This stand sells turkey legs, curly fries and cheese nachos. Seating is outdoors, in an area that's also utilized by patrons from the next door Lickskillet Pizza. Las Banderas (located in the French section(huh?)) A mexican eatery with an extremely limited menu.
Lickskillet Pizza (surprise, it's in Lickskillet) Another Papa John's Pizza stand. See the Papa John's entry below for an opinion. Lickskillet Snacks (Lickskillet area) A small stall selling pretzels, drinks, and maybe a churro or something. Miner's Cookhouse (Lickskillet area) Indoor counter service restaurant with burgers and pulled pork sandwiches (all served with nutritiously vacant fries). The BBQ pork sandwiches are actually pretty darn good, and the theming inside is a welcome touch. Miss Dixie's Depot (located in the Confederate area) Burgers, fries, BBQ sandwiches and turkey legs. Everything a growing boy needs to upchuck after riding too many coasters. Indoor seating, including the mythical G.A.P. window seats (if you have to ask, you'll never know) Old South Confectionary (located in the Georgia section) Funnel cakes, waffle cones and good ole soft serve.
Panda Express (located in the Confederate section) I want to talk about what a bad combo Chinese food and a park environment is. I want to tell you that the food is nasty and overpriced and you really shouldn't bother. But after walking in, getting hit with the delicious aroma, and sampling a bit I have to admit that the only negative here is that the food is really overpriced. A combination plate that would run $5 in the food court will set you back ten bucks here. If you need a quick fix, a $1 spring roll or two should get you by for a while longer. Papa John's Pizza (located in Lickskillet area) Of all the national chains, Papa John's Pizza is undoubtedly my favorite. But I don't want it in a park. And I certainly don't want to pay upwards of seven bucks for a combo plate that has a single slice of pizza (granted, it's a larger slice) on it. A full size pizza will run you $25 (oh, $24.99) in the park, and that's with ONLY pepperoni and cheese. Outside a park, you could probably get three whole pies for that price. So while I can't knock the quality of the food, I have to poo-poo the "value" here. If you're in Atlanta, I could tell you at least three other places to go for awesome pizza, all independently owned. Don't give in to "safe" pizza here. Piccadilly Sweets (located in the British section) Sugar overkill reigns supreme here. Lots of candy treats, fudge, cookies, etc. The fudge and cookies are made on site. Plantation House (located in the French section) This restaurant serves chicken fingers, salads, desserts, and kids' meals. Seating is both indoors and out. Promenade Pizza (located in the Promenade) see Papa John's Pizza, above. Tondee's Tavern (located in the British section) This smaller eatery serves Philly Cheesesteaks and chicken hoagies.
