Coastal Carolina Fair So since Tommy and Brian didn't want to have us on a double-date to the South Carolina State Fair, Karen and I instead took a drive down to the lowcountry to hit the Coastal Carolina Fair. It's held in Ladson, South Carolina, which is about 20 minutes from downtown Charleston (and about ten minutes from where I grew up. Yes, this is the fair of my yute).
You'll never catch me in one of those paddle boats, though I bet they're still safer than the ones at Santa's Animal Cruelty Land.
So as soon as you enter the fair, you're assaulted by "food that'll take years off your life" alley. All the usual suspects are here. You got your elephant ears...
Your "every type of meat product possible crammed into casings" sausage dogs...
And of course the roasted corn.
Okay, honestly the roasted corn thing is new down here. We saw the stands every 20 feet or so up at the Ohio State Fair, but they really aren't that common down here.
Taco in a Bag? Are they just making shit up now?
There is no way in hell I'm buying anything from "Aunt Flo."
Hot Wisconsin Cheese? Oh hell yes! |
