Busch Gardens Williamsburg Page 2 The prototype version of the German Real Doll wasn't really as responsive as some of the newer ones are . .
Anyway, what's that mess of metal over there? Ah, it's Alpengeist!
We must get our ride on the Alpengeist! Note that Jeff managed to sneak into this picture. Teddy looks all happy, but he's really thinking "I know this is my home park and all, but it ain't fair that visitors get to hog the end seats"
Alpengeisting (yeah, I made up that word. Like "alpengeist" is proper English anyways.)
Alpengeist is fun enough, but it seems to be showing its age much sooner than it should be. There were a few too many turbulent moments for my tastes.
Aw, this chick is pretending she's on a Vekoma. No, seriously, what the hell is this girl doing? Next up is Curse of DarKastle. Teddy and Jeff bit the bullet and rode it with us, despite the fact that they think it's teh suck.
I actually kinda liked it. No, it's not Spiderman, but I think Busch did an admirable job with it. Now that that's out of the way, let me start bitching about it. First off, they need to fix the "heat" effect in the fireplace soon. It's really obvious that it's supposed to be there, so it's very weird to not have it working. Secondly, the sensory drop here is ineffective. I don't know what they're missing here, but I didn't accept the drop in the same way that I do Spiderman. Shit, Corkscrew Hill has a more realistic drop moment in it.. Thirdly, why in the hell was I spritzed with water at the end? I didn't see a damn thing on screen that justified getting hit with water... Despite all that, I still think it's a solid ride. Not for everyone, but if you like dark rides I don't see how you can think this sucks. If there was any confusion regarding whether Teddy was a bear or a cub...
There ya go. ZOMBIE EAGLES MUST HAVE BRAINS!
I was really excited about getting another ride on Apollo's Chariot. Ever since I rode Goliath (Six Flags over Georiga), I wanted to know how it held up in comparison.
And it didn't. Goliath kicks Apollo's Chariot's ass up up down down left right left right B A. I thought maybe Apollo had the visual advantage, and I can't honestly say that it even has that. The area over the Rhine River is nice, but the netting down there is junky looking. I did get caught off guard by the sudden right swerve on the way back, but that was really the only thing worth noting. I still love Apollo's Chariot, but it's officially off my top ten list now.
See this shot ^. Nice shot, right? I liked it so much I shot a still and grabbed it on video. This was the last shot I took with my Panasonic 150. Five minutes later I went to cut it on for another shot and nothing happened. I tried again. Nothing happened. I tried again. Nothing happened. I swapped batteries. Nothing. Eventually I came to terms with the fact that my camera committed suicide. I still haven't figured out how to get the tape out of the (completely dead) camera. This is why Teddy and Jeff don't appear in the BGW video. Sorry, guys.
I remember coming to this park when I was in the eighth grade and thinking that LNM was the biggest damn roller coaster I'd ever seen. Maybe I was just shorter then.
If there's any Arrow looper that deserves to live forever, LNM is the one.
So that ends our PTR. We have more pictures and might even post them one day. . . just not today. BTW, if you haven't checked out the BGW video, you oughta. It's pretty good. Back to the TPS Report main page |
