ACE Coaster Con XXXII
Day Five: Worlds of Fun
So yeah, a nice little storm rolled in and threatened to ruin
the evening.
Luckily, the folks who run Worlds of Fun aren't enormous pansies, so
they didn't let a little weather ruin a good time.
STEVE: "Karen, there's something on my back BITING ME."
KAREN:
"Oh, yeah? Just let me get the camera and get a quick picture."
For the record, that's rain on my back, not sweat pools.
The rolling storms were actually kind enough to cool things down briefly.
Thanks to the storm, we had plenty of time
to look around the Festhaus. That light rig
looks a wee bit on the dangerous side.
So while we waited there were some blind auctions and raffles.
Karen won this bitching Worlds of Fun banner.
She's now obsessed with collecting park stuff like this.
The storm finally passed, so we headed out to do some shopping...
This statue is wrong on SO many levels.
Everyone knows that Han Solo didn't really have much
interaction with Leia when she was in the slave girl costume.
After strangling Jabba the Hutt with the chain, she was
assisted by Luke Skywalker in getting off Jabba's
Desert Barge. I mean, come on! Han was over on
the Desert Skiff with Luke, Lando, and Chewie.
And to top it off, he didn't even have his vest back
until after they got off Tatooine. But it's like they're
confusing the events on Tatooine with what happened
on Endor. If you're going to take the time to
make a model like this, is it too much to ask that
you at least TRY to be historically accurate?
I'll be passing on the round-up, thank you very much.
But at least it's pretty.
Spinning Dragons gets the award for
"most surprisingly cool ride."
More parks need these things. They're not too
intense, and they totally beat a standard wild mouse.
I rode it tonight with Josh, and we didn't spin
too terribly much. I guess we balanced the car.
So the park closed at ten, and we all went over to
Prowler for some mad ERT. This thing is SICK at night.
They also were kind enough to hook us up with some
ERT on Boomerang. Ouch. Ouch. Ouch.
Like any other boomerang, get the credit and get the hell away from it.
