ACE Coaster Con XXXII

Day Five: Worlds of Fun

After another hour or two, we made it to Worlds of Fun.
You can see the place from a few miles off, thanks to
the hypercoaster Mamba.

Hooray for more rolley-rides!

K: Boo for lack of sufficient air conditioning in the park.

When Worlds of Fun initially opened, the whole park was themed to
Around the World in 80 Days. The book, not that POS movie with
Jackie Chan and the criminally underrated Steve Coogan.

K: I really liked Coogan in the BBC version of Alice Through the Looking Glass with Kate
Beckinsale.  He played the Gnat. It's one of my comfort movies when I'm feeling crumby.

But Cedar Fair bought them, and now the place is dirty with Peanuts characters.

The entrance plaza seems charming enough.

Our complimentary tickets are pretty charming as well.
Okay, they're not really complimentary.  It was part of the Con price.

The first section of the park you hit is the
Scandinavian section... more of Festhaus later.

Finnish Fling is apparently an old-school rotor ride.
God, I wish it wasn't blazing hot.  I'd love to try this sucker out.

Even in perfect weather, I'd probably still spew.

It's never too hot, however, for some big wood action.

Here's a picture of rocks. I guess Karen didn't see the roller coaster...
I kid.  This is currently our laptop background image.

K: Can you spot the gum in this picture?

Okay, Karen managed to spot the roller coaster.
Of course, this is the only section of Prowler you can see...

Or is it?

(that's a popular dramatic device called foreshadowing)

Josh gives Prowler two thumbs up!

After riding Prowler, Brandi looks happier than a mongoloid.

And I got the crap beaten out of me.

Well, it wasn't the coaster's fault this time.  Right after the first drop,
my seatbelt magically teleported ABOVE my lapbar, which then
was kind enough to grind into mah belly with every pop of air.

I'm not sure how the hell that happened, but it HURT!

Even with the pain, however, there's no denying that
Prowler is a big old piece of wooden awesome.

It's definitely top five wood, but I haven't decided where exactly it goes.

Bathroom industrial fan thing ERT was the highlight of the day.
By the way, I broke a park rule to get this picture.

Nice enough non-inverting pirate ship ride.

Time for the food and stuff back at the Festhaus, but as this
picture shows, something wicked this way comes.
