Day One: Side-trip to Little Rock, AR

New state credit!

AND a new state capitol credit!

Does this capitol building make my boobs look big?

Little Rock, AR has a beautiful capitol complex. The gold doors are rather lux.

Over in a quiet shady corner of the complex, we saw an interesting looking monument.

It didn't click until we got close enough to read the inscription.

They get points for a dramatic Confederate soldier's monument.

It's well hidden in a far corner and surrounded by trees. There's nothing but this
monument and trees over here. You can't even see it clearly from the road.

The first of several obligatory artsy shots.

Way on the other side of the complex is the stuff they aren't trying to hide.

Another artsy shot. This one features hydrangeas and a branch.

They had a cool Medal of Honor monument. Who knew Arkansas had so many honorees?

Each person has their own plaque with their likeness carved on it and a little bit on how they earned the medal.

Did you know Dougie Mac was from Arkansas? I didn't.

Pompey Factor was awarded the Medal of Honor while he was alive. He never received a military
pension, however, because there was no official record of his military service.  Here's the funny
part: To receive the medal, you have to be a member of the US Armed Forces.

I have to wonder if him being a black Seminole Indian had anything to do with this.

I can't remember the words to Eternal Flame by the Bangles right now. If I could, I would quote something here.

Last artsy capitol shot - promise!

Time to get back on the road to Branson.
