ACE Coaster Con XXXII

Day Four:  Banquet time

We arrived at the Best Western conference room just in time to catch the ass
end of a presentation on "how to do roller coaster videos."

I don't want to play the elitist, but when the dude started talking about
using star dissolves, I kinda tuned him out (gimmicky transitions = amateur hour video).

Shortly after his presentation, they ran all the videos for the video contest.
Of the six videos submitted (yes, only six), we had two in the running.

Obviously we were feeling pretty good about our chances.

Later in the afternoon, it was time to ride over to Chateau-on-the-Lake
for the Banquet and Awards Ceremony.

Nice place, but it ain't exactly a chateau.
Mind you, my visual reference point for what a chateau is supposed to
look like is based entirely on viewings of "Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown"

Nice to see Josh wearing a belt.  he only brought like
twelve for the week.

Aw, they have a mini Tree of Life in the lobby.

Actually, the lobby is really quite nice.

Considering it's still at least 94 degrees outside, moving
the reception indoors was a VERY good call.

The line for the cash bar is jumping.  The line at the bar
around the corner, however, was non-existent.

We loves getting to play dress up in the hellish heat.

Oooh, and throw some liquor into me when I'm already
overheated.  This is a recipe for disaster.

Awful nice of Brandi to let Josh have her seat.

Anyone know what Josh's screenname on Manhunt is?

The keynote speaker was Jane Cooper (President of
Attractions for Herschend Entertainment).  She gave
a nice, relaxed speech about what her experiences
and what she saw as the future of the industry.  Good stuff.

Jarsh accepts an award for the Southeastern Division.
This is the only award you'll see here, since we were shut out
of the video competition.  Apparently our videos lacked the requisite
quantity of "inside jokes."  But hey, it's just nice to be in competition, right?

Yeah, I know.  That's total BS.

The PTC dude was funny as hell.  He did a nice slide
presentation of some of the loonier stuff going around the installation
of a new ride in China (Fireball at Happy Valley?  I don't remember
this stuff.  Someone ask Josh).

God, I wish I could show pictures of the other folks at this table.
Let's just say it wouldn't help any of those ACE stereotypes.

Last shot of the Branson area.
Tomorrow we have to pack it up and head to the next leg of the Con trip...
